To get in touch with the Friends of the Hillcrest Park Community Garden, please email:
hillcrestgarden@hotmail.com
or phone Justine at 416-651-3179 or Rhonda at 416-652-7867. We're always ready to discuss any aspect of the Community Garden project, and we sincerely value your input. Your voice can help us to make our community garden a success.
To Volunteer...
Everyone in the neighborhood is welcome to come putter in the garden. We are asking those who want to share in the harvest to commit to a minimum of 2 hours (1 session) per week in the garden (or working on the project in some capacity). There is some flexibility here – if you miss a week, you can make up the time or send someone else in your place, but dedication is important. However, anyone is free to garden on and off as they please, non-regulars just won't get a share of the produce. In addition to growing food for ourselves a portion of our harvest will be donated to a local foodbank.
The Friends of the Hillcrest Park Community Garden...
This is the planning committee (also volunteer) responsible for getting the garden project up and running. The committee sets up the schedule of gardening days, raises funds, purchases supplies and plans events. There will be at least one member of this group available at each gardening session, to answer questions, address any concerns and, most importantly, to open up the storage room where the tools and seeds will be kept! The Friends meet aproximately one evening a month (sometimes twice a month if necessary) to discuss the garden's needs and to plan the garden's future. Anyone interested in joining the planning committee is welcome.
Please address technical issues concerning this website to Peter du Chemin. Be specific!
